Set on a beautiful 50-acre site near the centre of Cheltenham, Dean Close is a long-standing co-educational day and boarding school for pupils aged 3-18. Education across the ages is as much about building character and relationships as it is about gaining knowledge, with the Christian heart |
The School is renowned for focusing on individual development. Small classes, excellent learning |
Dean Close has enjoyed national success recently across a variety of disciplines. For the first time, the School entered several chamber groups in the Pro Corda National Chamber Music Festival for Schools and three of them reached the finals; the senior debating team won the Thames Valley round of the European Youth Parliament competition held at the Oxford Union to progress to the national finals; the U16 boys hockey team won the County title, narrowly lost the West of England title on flicks but gained their place in the national final following the ‘winner takes all’ playoff; |
the U16 netball team claimed a top 10 place in the country having reached the national finals following their dominance in the County and South West Regional competitions; Angel Parker (Year 10) came 2nd in the British Council Mandarin Speaking Competition having only been learning the language for ten months, highly commended for her pronunciation; a Sixth Form team came 2nd in the UK Senior Mathematics Team Challenge having participated in the final against 64 of the top schools in the country. All this alongside the many and various daily activities across the schools, both academic and co-curricular. |
With around 260 pupils in the Prep School and 500 in the Senior School, Dean Close is small enough to allow everyone to know one another, feel valued and get fully involved in the life of the School. However, it is large enough to have an extremely strong boarding community, vibrant and exciting creative arts, impressive academic results and great sports results. |
